Nissan C engine

Automotive Engines

The Nissan C series was an inline-four pushrod automobile engine produced by Nissan from 1957 to 1964, displacing 1.0 L and producing 37 hp, with single or dual 26 mm carburettors. It was derived from the 1.5 L Nissan 1H, a licence-built BMC B-series engine, by reducing the stroke from 89 to 59 mm on the advice of the American engineer Donald Stone, formerly of Willys-Overland, and the first C1 engine was called the Stone engine in his honour. When the capacity was later raised to 1.2 L by lengthening the stroke to 71 mm it was called the Nissan E engine. The Nissan A engine replaced it in the 1967 Sunny B10.
