The Mitsubishi 8A8 is a family of V8 engines produced by Mitsubishi Motors since 1999, with a single variant so far, the 4.5 litre 8A80, which has double overhead camshafts and gasoline direct injection. It makes 280 PS and 412 N m of torque. It was fitted to the Japan-only Proudia and Dignity, which were discontinued after only fifteen months because of financial pressures. The engine was developed in partnership with Hyundai, which cast the aluminium block while Mitsubishi made the cylinder heads and the direct injection equipment. Hyundai used it in the first generation Equus until replacing it with its own Tau V8 in 2008.
