Mitsubishi 4G4 engine

Automotive Engines

The Mitsubishi Neptune, or 4G4, is a series of iron-block overhead-valve inline-four engines built by Mitsubishi Motors from June 1971 to 1981, and it was the company's last OHV engine. Unable to clear the new passenger car emissions rules for 1978, it was replaced by the 4G1 Orion, though it kept being built until 1979 for commercial vehicles, which faced less restrictive rules, and until about 1981 for other applications. Around 520,000 Neptune engines were built. The 1.4 litre 4G41 powered the Galant, the Delica and Mitsubishi forklifts, while the 1.2 litre 4G42 went into the Lancer and the Lancer Van.
