The Mitsubishi 3G8 is a family of three-cylinder gasoline engines from Mitsubishi Motors, introduced in the fifth generation of the Minica kei car. Despite its small size it offered advanced features, including multi-valve cylinder heads and twin overhead camshafts. In 1987 Mitsubishi was the first manufacturer to supercharge a kei vehicle, and in 1989 a Minica using the engine became the world's first production car with five valves per cylinder, three intake and two exhaust in each cylinder of the 548 cc 3G81. The engine was enlarged to 657 cc in 1990 after the kei class regulations changed, and the four-cylinder 4A3 engine was later derived from it, sharing its 72 mm bore pitch.
