The Mitsubishi 3A9 is a family of all-alloy three-cylinder engines developed together with the 4A9 four-cylinder family and introduced in the 2003 version of the Mitsubishi Colt supermini. It was built by MDC Power in Germany, previously a joint venture between Mitsubishi and DaimlerChrysler. The family includes the 3A90, 3A91 and 3A92 versions. The 3A91 is also known as the Mercedes-Benz M134 E11 and powered the Smart Forfour as well as the Colt, while the 3A90 and 3A92 have been fitted to the Mitsubishi Mirage and the Attrage. For the shared engine family characteristics the article refers readers to the 4A9 family.
