Mitsubishi 2G2 engine

Automotive Engines

The Mitsubishi Vulcan, code 2G2, is an iron-block twin-cylinder engine with three main bearings, built by Mitsubishi Motors for kei car class vehicles from September 1972. It was an overhead camshaft design that superseded the older two-stroke 2G1 series, and it was in turn replaced by the multi-valve three-cylinder 3G8 series. The 2G21 powered the early 1970s Minica, and the 2G22, called the Vulcan S in advertising, went on sale in April 1976 as the first of the new enlarged kei cars and was built for only ten months. The later 2G23 used the MCA-Jet emissions system, and in its final years of production, until summer 1989, the engine was built only for the Mazda Porter.
