Honda ZC engine

The Honda ZC engine was a 1.6-litre inline four-cylinder petrol engine built by Honda in DOHC, SOHC and SOHC VTEC forms. The DOHC version revived Honda's twin-cam engine 14 years after the end of Honda S800 production, keeping the basic structure of the EV and EW engines apart from the valvetrain, and used an unusually long-stroke 75.0 mm by 90.0 mm bore and stroke for 1,590 cc, which gave strong low and mid-range torque and made it successful in touring car and endurance racing in the Civic. It used an aluminium block, belt-driven camshafts, four valves per cylinder and, in most versions, PGM-FI multipoint fuel injection, with single and dual carburettor versions also offered. It debuted in the Civic Si and Ballade Sports CR-X Si announced on 24 October 1984 and ended with the 2001 fourth-generation Integra.
