Honda K engine

Automotive Engines

The Honda K series is a line of four-cylinder, four-stroke car engines that Honda introduced in 2001. All have double overhead camshafts, roller rockers on the cylinder head to cut friction, and a coil-on-plug distributorless ignition controlled by the engine computer. The cylinders have cast iron sleeves like those of the B and F series. As with the B series there are two short blocks that differ only in deck height, 212 mm for the K20 and 231.5 mm for the K23 and K24. Two versions of i-VTEC appear: in some engines, such as the K20A3, it acts on the intake cam only, and in others, such as the K20A2 of the Acura RSX Type-S, it acts on both intake and exhaust. A modified K20C is used in Sports Car Club of America Formula 3 and Formula 4 racing.
