Honda i-CTDi

Automotive Engines

The Honda i-CTDi is the badge for the common rail turbo diesel injection technology used in Honda's N22A engine, which was produced and sold in the European market between 2003 and 2008 and renamed i-DTEC in 2008 for the revised N22B. The N22A was Honda's first in-house developed diesel engine, with development under way since 1995 under lead engineer Kenichi Nagahiro and the first engines released in 2003; it won the International Engine of the Year title for 2.0 to 2.5 litre engines in 2005. It was fitted to the Honda Accord, Civic and CR-V. The earlier CTDi badge belonged to a different engine, the 1.7-litre Isuzu 4EE1 that Isuzu Motors Polska built for the European Civic.
