The Honda turbocharged Indy V8 is a single-turbocharged 2.65-liter V8 Indy car racing engine that Honda originally designed, developed and produced in partnership with Judd for the CART championship series between 1986 and 2002. Its roots lie in Jack Brabham's long relationship with Honda, which led Honda to hire Judd to develop engines after Formula Two ended in 1984. The first was the Judd AV, used midway through the 1986 season by Galles Racing with Geoff Brabham and initially badged the Brabham-Honda. The engine became known for reliability and fuel mileage, particularly in 500-mile races, though it gave away power to the Ilmor Chevrolet, and from 1988 Truesports with Bobby Rahal took over as primary team and the Honda name was dropped.
