The Honda Indy V8 is a naturally aspirated V8 racing engine of 3.0 and 3.5 liters that Honda Performance Development built with Ilmor Engineering for the IndyCar Series. It was unveiled at the 2002 Detroit Auto Show, raced from the 2003 season, and was replaced by the Honda Indy V6 after 2011. It passed through three generations: the 3.5-liter HI3R and HI4R of 2003 and 2004, the 3.0-liter HI4R-A, HI5R and HI6R of 2004 to 2006 after a rule change cut displacement, and the 3.5-liter HI7R to HI11R of 2007 to 2011, which was the sole engine in the series from 2006 to 2011. On 10 February 2012 Race Engine Magazine honored it as North American Race Engine of the Year.
