Honda HR412E

The Honda HR412E is a 1.6 litre turbocharged racing engine that Honda introduced in 2012 for the World Touring Car Championship. The name stands for Honda Racing, four cylinders, 2012, Engine. From 2011 the FIA changed the regulations for Super 2000 cars in the championship and in the World Rally Championship to a 1.6 litre direct injection turbo engine, and Honda R&D designed the HR412E specifically so that Honda could join the touring car series part way through the 2012 season. Because the regulations fix most dimensions in detail, it was difficult to gain a performance edge over the engines of rival makers. It is a water-cooled inline four with DOHC and 16 valves, displacing 1,595 cc with a bore and stroke of 81 by 77.4 millimetres, a compression ratio of 12.5, a boost pressure of 2.5 bar and a limit of 8,500 rpm, with two 33 millimetre restrictors, a Pectel MQ12 management system and a minimum weight of 82 kilograms.
