The Chevrolet Indy V8 is a naturally aspirated, 90 degree V8 racing engine that Chevrolet used in the Indy Racing League IndyCar Series from 2002 to 2005. Ilmor designed and developed it, and it was built in two capacities, 3.0 and 3.5 litres, with power quoted at roughly 600 to 700 horsepower. It ran on methanol and used gear-driven double overhead camshafts with four titanium valves per cylinder, a dry-sump oil system, sequential electronic fuel injection with two injectors per cylinder, a billet steel crankshaft and aluminium block and head castings. Chevrolet engines of this type were fitted to chassis such as the Dallara IR-00, the Dallara IR-03 and the G-Force GF05. The article gives a weight of 281 pounds (127 kilograms) and a rev limit between 10,300 and 10,700 rpm.
