Honda V6 hybrid Formula One power unit

Automotive Engines

The Honda RA6xxH and RBPTH hybrid power units are a series of 1.6 litre hybrid turbocharged V6 racing engines developed and produced by Honda Motor Company for Formula One. From 2014 they featured a kinetic energy recovery motor, the MGU-K, geared directly to the crankshaft, and a heat energy recovery motor, the MGU-H, attached to the turbocharger by a common shaft. New regulations from 2026 removed the MGU-H. They have run since the 2015 season, first with the re-established McLaren Honda works team, and output grew from roughly 760 to over 1,000 horsepower on the same mandated amount of fuel. Users over the years include McLaren, Scuderia Toro Rosso, Scuderia AlphaTauri, Racing Bulls, Red Bull Racing and Aston Martin.
