The Duramax V8 is a family of diesel V8 engines that Isuzu produces for use in General Motors trucks and vans. It was first installed in 2001 Chevrolet and GMC trucks and has since become an option in pickups, vans and medium-duty trucks. The engine blocks come from the German foundry Fritz Winter. Among the 6.6 litre versions, the LB7 of 2001 to early 2004 was a 32-valve design with high-pressure common-rail direct injection and aluminium cylinder heads, and the LLY that replaced it in mid-2004 added a variable-geometry turbocharger and an exhaust gas recirculation valve to meet emissions rules. The article records the one millionth Duramax V8 built at Moraine in 2007 and the two millionth in 2017.
