Fiat 804

Automobiles

The Fiat 804, also called the 804 Corsa, was a Grand Prix racing car built by the Italian maker Fiat in 1922 and designed only for competition. Its Type 404 straight-six engine displaced 1,991 cc to meet the two-litre limit of that year's regulations, and was in effect the earlier Type 402 engine with two cylinders removed and the stroke shortened. Fiat entered three cars in the 1922 French Grand Prix at Strasbourg, which Felice Nazzaro won, and then in the Italian Grand Prix at the new Monza circuit, where Pietro Bordino finished first. Biagio Nazzaro died in an accident at the French race when the rear axle of his car broke. The 804 was replaced in 1923 by the Fiat 805.
