Fiat 10 HP

Automobiles

The Fiat 10 HP was an early car built by the Italian manufacturer Fiat in 1901, the fifth model the company offered. It was an evolution of the Fiat 6 HP, and like that car it was designed by the engineer Aristide Faccioli, so the underlying technology stayed the same. The main change was the seating: where the 6 HP had seats facing each other, the 10 HP was a Phaeton with two rows of seats, and a steering wheel replaced the tiller bar as standard equipment. A two-cylinder petrol engine of 1082 cc drove the rear wheels through a three-speed gearbox and chains. At 9,000 lire it sold poorly, and only three or five were built, depending on the source, before the Fiat 12 HP took over as the successor.
