The Fiat 1, also sold as the Fiat 1 Fiacre, was a car built by Fiat from 1908 to 1910. Its 2,200 cc engine produced 16 PS (11.8 kW) and gave the car a top speed of 70 km/h (43 mph). The four cylinders were cast in a single block for the first time, taking a cue from the Italian carmaker Aquila. The Fiacre was intended for use as a taxi, and around 1,600 were produced. It was sold in Italy and abroad, and it was used as a cab in New York City, London, Paris and other cities. In 1908, the year production began, Fiat also founded the Fiat Automobile Co in the United States.
