The Nissan NV2500 Concept is a full-size panel van concept that Nissan developed ahead of its planned entry into the North American commercial vehicle market. Japanese Wikipedia says it was meant to be shown at the North American International Auto Show in January 2009, but the global financial crisis led to the showing being cancelled, so Nissan announced it on 4 December 2008 instead. It was designed for the launch Nissan then planned for 2010 and, as a full-size van, is the largest of Nissan's concept cars. It rides on the F-Alpha platform with rear-wheel drive, a V8 engine of undisclosed displacement and a five-speed automatic transmission, and wears 20-inch six-spoke alloy wheels. The passenger-side rear door is a multi-use door with tool storage, a flip-up hatch on the cargo area side lets a desk be pulled out for use outside, and the front passenger seat slides back to serve as a desk chair. A fixed glass roof with a solar panel generates power for interior lighting. The production NV was first planned for late 2010 but began production in January 2011 and went on sale in spring 2011.
