The Porsche Carrera GT is a mid engine sports car built by Porsche from 2003 to 2006, with 1,270 examples produced, powered by a 5.7 liter V10 engine descended from a unit Porsche had secretly built for the Footwork Formula One team in 1992. Built around a carbon fiber monocoque with ceramic composite brakes, it was named the top sports car of the 2000s by Sports Car International and won Popular Science's Best of What's New award in 2003 for its advanced chassis.
