The Suzuki Fronte 800 is a subcompact car with a two stroke engine that Suzuki built in the latter half of the 1960s. Introduced in August 1965 and on sale by December, it was an attempt to compete above the kei car class of the Suzulight and it kept the name of its smaller engined brother, the Fronte. Its three cylinder, two stroke 785 cc engine was very close to that of the DKW Junior, gave 41 PS and a top speed of 115 km/h, and drove through a four speed column shifted gearbox. The body was a modern two door unibody sedan credited to Suzuki chief designer Sasaki Toru, on independent torsion bar suspension. Sales were slow against cars like the Toyota Publica, and production ended in April 1969 after 2,717 were built. A planned Fronte 1100 with a more powerful engine never entered production.
