Hyundai Equus

Automobiles

The Hyundai Equus was a full-sized, front-engine, rear-wheel-drive luxury sedan manufactured and marketed by Hyundai Motor Company from 1999 to 2016, built over two generations as a four-door, five-passenger car. The name comes from the Latin word for horse. The first generation was introduced in 1999 as a front-wheel-drive car designed by Mitsubishi Motors, which sold its own versions as the Proudia sedan and Dignity limousine; Hyundai offered a sedan and a long-wheelbase limousine for the Korean market with 3.0 and 3.5 litre V6 and 4.5 litre V8 engines. A second generation was released in 2009 and sold in South Korea, Russia, China, the United States, Canada and elsewhere, with the Centennial name in the Middle East. On 4 November 2015 Hyundai announced the 2016 successor would be rebranded as the Genesis G90 under the new Genesis Motor luxury division.
