The Nissan Versa is a subcompact car that Nissan introduced for the 2007 model year as its entry level model for the North American market, built to undercut its own larger Sentra on price while still offering a roomier cabin than most rivals in its class. Later generations dropped an earlier hatchback body style to concentrate on the sedan, and the Versa has remained Nissan's least expensive new car in the United States, aimed at first time buyers and budget conscious drivers.
