The Suzuki Aerio, called the Liana in many markets, is a subcompact car that Suzuki built and introduced in 2001 as the replacement for the Esteem and Baleno. It came as a tall five-door SX hatchback, designed for maximum interior room, and as a four-door sedan, with 16-valve inline-four petrol engines of 1.5 and 1.8 litres, the latter making 125 PS. North American cars received a 2.0 litre engine of 145 hp, then a 2.3 litre of 155 hp from 2004, with a major styling and interior refresh in 2005 and standard antilock brakes from 2006. Production was discontinued around the world in 2007 and the car was replaced by the SX4, except in Pakistan, where it was built from 2006 to 2014, and in China, where Changhe-Suzuki continued it until 2019. In Indonesia the sedan was sold as the Baleno.
