The Hyundai Atos was a five-door city car that Hyundai produced from 1997 until 2014, sold at different times as the Atoz, Amica and Santro. The development project for a Hyundai minicar began in October 1995, and production at the Ulsan plant started in September 1997, with the European version shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show that month and sales from March 1998. It used a simple front-wheel-drive platform for emerging markets and was one of the first A-segment city cars sold in Europe with a five-door body. From 1999 a restyled version with a lower roof, the Atos Prime, was sold in India as the Santro and in South Korea and Indonesia as the Kia Visto. The Atos was replaced in most markets by the i10 in 2007, though production continued in India until late 2014, and the Santro name was revived in October 2018.
