The Honda Insight is a hybrid electric car that Honda introduced in 1999 as the first hybrid vehicle sold in the United States, reaching the American market slightly ahead of Toyota's Prius. The original two seat, aerodynamically shaped Insight was designed chiefly to demonstrate fuel efficiency, and Honda later revived the name for more conventional four door hybrid sedans in subsequent generations.
