Citroen CX

The Citroen CX is a French executive car built by Citroen, introduced in 1974 as the successor to the innovative DS, produced until 1991. Built around Citroen's hallmark hydropneumatic self-leveling suspension system and, in a departure from the DS, front-wheel drive paired with a transversely mounted engine and distinctive concave rear window, the CX continued Citroen's tradition of technically unconventional, aerodynamically advanced executive cars at a time when most rivals favored more conservative engineering. The CX was named European Car of the Year in 1975 shortly after its launch, and its combination of ride comfort, aerodynamic efficiency and distinctive styling made it one of the most respected large Citroens of the late twentieth century, sustaining the company's engineering reputation established by the DS.
