Checker Marathon

The Checker Marathon is an automobile built by the American manufacturer Checker Motors Corporation, produced with only minor styling changes from the early 1960s until 1982, most closely associated with its adaptation as the Checker taxicab used for decades in New York City and other American cities. Built with a boxy, upright body and a spacious, easily serviced interior intended primarily for durability and passenger space rather than styling fashion, it became instantly recognizable as an American taxicab even as automotive styling elsewhere changed substantially over its two-decade production run. Checker also sold the Marathon in smaller numbers as an ordinary passenger car to private buyers.
