Dray (horse-drawn)

Animal- and Human-Powered Overland Vehicles

A dray is a low, sturdy cart, traditionally horse-drawn and typically built without sides, used for hauling heavy loads such as barrels, timber or goods between warehouses and docks. Brewery drays pulled by teams of draft horses remained a familiar sight on British and American city streets well into the twentieth century, and the name was later extended to motorized flatbed delivery vehicles.
