The Airbus A220 is a family of narrow-body airliners seating roughly 100 to 150 passengers, built by Airbus Canada Limited Partnership but originally developed by Bombardier Aviation as the CSeries, a program launched on 13 July 2008. The smaller A220-100 first flew on 16 September 2013 and entered service in 2016 with Swiss International Air Lines, while the larger A220-300 followed with airBaltic later that year; Airbus took a majority stake in the program in July 2018 amid financial pressure on Bombardier and a Boeing trade dispute, rebranding the aircraft from CSeries to A220. Bombardier exited the partnership entirely in February 2020, leaving Airbus holding 75 percent and Quebec's Investissement Quebec the remaining 25 percent.
