The Airbus A321 is the stretched member of the Airbus A320 family, a single-aisle twinjet that carries about 185 to 239 passengers and was the first derivative of the baseline A320. It entered service with Lufthansa in 1994. A re-engined A321neo followed after 2010, together with long range versions called the A321LR and the A321XLR. Final assembly takes place in Hamburg, Mobile in Alabama, Tianjin and Toulouse. By June 2025 some 3,536 had been delivered and thousands more A321neo were on firm order, and American Airlines was its largest operator.
