The Sukhoi Su-57, NATO reporting name Felon, is a twin-engine stealth multirole fighter and the first aircraft in Russian military service designed with stealth technology. It came out of the PAK FA programme begun in 1999, and Sukhoi's internal designation for it is T-50. The first prototype flew on 29 January 2010, and development then proved protracted because of structural and technical problems, including the destruction of the first production aircraft in a crash before delivery. The first Su-57 entered service with the Russian Aerospace Forces in December 2020. It combines stealth shaping, supermaneuverability, supercruise, integrated avionics and a large payload, is meant to succeed the MiG-29 and Su-27, and has been marketed for export.
