Space Shuttle Atlantis

Spacecraft and Launch Vehicles

Space Shuttle Atlantis, designated OV-104, was the fourth operational Space Shuttle orbiter and the second to last built. Rockwell International manufactured it in Southern California, and it was delivered to the Kennedy Space Center in April 1985. Its maiden flight, STS-51-J, took place in October 1985. Atlantis flew 33 missions and ended the whole Space Shuttle programme with STS-135, which landed on 21 July 2011. It weighed 68,635 kilograms when it rolled out of Palmdale, nearly 3.2 tonnes lighter than Columbia. It is now displayed at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.
