Farman was a French aircraft and later car maker established by the brothers Henri and Maurice Farman. Henri Farman won the Grand Prix d'Aviation for a closed circuit of one kilometre in 1908, flying a Voisin, and the brothers then built biplanes of their own, including the Farman III. They produced reconnaissance and bomber aircraft in the First World War and airliners afterwards, and the company was nationalised in 1936.
