The Sukhoi Superjet 100, abbreviated SSJ100 and renamed Yakovlev SJ-100 in August 2023, is a regional jet originally designed by the Russian aircraft company Sukhoi Civil Aircraft, a division of the United Aircraft Corporation. Development started in 2000, the type made its maiden flight on 19 May 2008 and flew its first commercial service on 21 April 2011 with Armavia. It typically seats 87 to 98 passengers, and aircraft built before 2025 are powered by two PowerJet SaM146 turbofans developed by a joint venture between the French company Safran and the Russian NPO Saturn. Stretched 130-seat versions were discussed but not built. Sanctions that followed the 2022 invasion of Ukraine cut off supplies of foreign parts and led to work on an all-Russian version with domestic engines.
