The Airbus A319 is a shortened version of the A320, the single-aisle twinjet that anchors the Airbus A320 family. It seats roughly 124 to 156 passengers and has a range of up to about 6,900 kilometres. Final assembly took place in Hamburg, Germany and in Tianjin, China. It entered service with Swissair in April 1996 and shares a type rating with the rest of the family, so A320 pilots need no extra training. The re-engined A319neo sold in far smaller numbers, and the earlier model became known as the A319ceo. By August 2025 more than 1,500 had been delivered, with American Airlines the largest operator.
